Why Jailbreak Your Ipod Touch?
This is the question most people who are new to the idea of jailbreaking ask.
There are HUGE amounts of reasons to jailbreak your ipod.
There are a couple main reasons however.
First off, when you originally have you ipod, it comes will a dull black screen like this:
What fun is that?
With jailbreaking you can change the screen to any image you could
possibly imagine through the use of Winterboard. Cydia already has
thousands of themes that are streaming through the market for free.
IMHO that right there is enough of a reason to jailbreak.
Secondly, have you ever wanted to edit the files inside of your ipod touch?
With the program OpenSSH on your ipod, and WinSCP on your computer, you can edit any of the files
in your ipod touch. This can be used to do many things from installing
other games on your idevice, to even creating other themes to
completely change your interface and sound. I have written a guide on
how to use SSH here. I however would not recommened playing with it if you don't know what you are doing.
Thirdly, have you ever thought to yourself, "Wow! This has so many games! I wonder if it could play other handheld games?" The answer to that question is yes. This is through the use of emulators. You can play things like gamboy advance, gameboy color, SNES, NES, and even things like the N64 in newer generations.
Finally, go look around at various tutorials around this site. If you jalibreak your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad you can try any of these things. It will truly unlock your devices true potential.
